HI004 Both Hands
Longtime distant observers of the European bass, house, and techno boutique festival circuit, we finally got involved at Dekmantel 2019. It will never cease to amaze how hard folks can go at 1PM on a Saturday... and that energy stayed with us.
When we returned to our studios later that fall we produced a set that captured our experiences and perceptions of that scene. Over the course of three mixes, Both Hands attempts to capture the ongoing hybridization of the vibrant genres and styles that welcomingly clashed and collapsed into each other throughout the festival.
(Fast) builds on a foundation of bass and electro eventually morphing into acid and techno — while (Help) emerges from some sort of Zimmerian outtake found on the cutting room floor of Blade Runner 2049. (Slow) closes out the release, rising from the enchanted-haunted Amsterdam Bos and evolving into a life-affirming shoegazed bliss.
