HI002 proceeds to benefit The Lyte Collective
This Friday June 19 we’re happy to share Harlem & Irving Presents new EP, Sync, our second release on the label.
All proceeds from the sales of Sync will be donated to Chicago's The Lyte Collective. In addition Bandcamp is also donating 100% of their share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Harlem & Irving stand in solidarity with BIPOC.
Brian developed a relationship with members of the Lyte team back in the early 2000s facilitating harm reduction groups with young people in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago. This work ultimately led to his dissertation research, which examined a music studio in a transitional living program for young people experiencing homelessness. If you’d like to learn more about that work, hit us up. Brian will be happy to share some resources.
The studio was managed by members of the Lyte team who have since moved on and created this new and exciting space in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago. A key feature of their community drop in center will be recording studios for community youth. Needless to say, we are all about that. Music played a key role in our development as young people and we’re happy to support efforts that prioritize access to music for young people!
We’re excited to share this release with you! Take good care, raise your voice, and move your feet!
